I am a dreamer, a quirky one at that - with provocation coming from all angles: life experience, literature, people, nature and art, to name just a few. Throughout my life, an affinity for the arts has always been present. I have been an avid reader and a sink for all things history, people and folklore. I studied music and graduated in English Literature. It is this realm where I find inspiration for writing, and it serves as the origin of my creative edge. But where did it all start?

The Dream

At one point in time, seeing that I was undecided about my future, my life partner asked me: if you could be anything, what would you like to be?

‘If I could be anything,‘ I said, ‘I’d love to be an author…’

First Steps

Determined to make my new-found dream of being a published author come true, I embarked upon a journey. As a first step, I enrolled at The Open University and studied English Literature part-time whilst continuing a leisure and hospitality career. During this, I began developing an idea for a story I had in mind. I conceptualised, built characters and journeys and worked on my craft to fulfil my passion to write for young adults.

Wise Words

It was mid-way through my first year as a student when I attended Cardiff's Children’s Literature Festival. I had the opportunity to listen to a talk by Barry Cunningham OBE — the publisher of Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling.

Following a brief chat with Mr Cunningham, I found the inspiration to evolve my book idea into a trilogy.

Turning Point

It was during this point I began the transition to a professional writer, and with my knowledge, tools, notes and advice, I quit my job and headed to family in Crete, where I began writing book one of the trilogy. I also developed a new-found love for poetry and began integrating with other writers online.

Dreams Do Come True

After I graduated with an English Literature degree, Covid hit, and we were in lockdown. For the first time since the universe opened the door, I worked solidly on my trilogy for an entire year.

Further to this, my partner and I decided to launch Owen Davis Limited — a professional writing service for businesses needing copywriting and marketing assistance.

As Co-founder and Creative Lead, I feel privileged to focus my passion into my dream career.

When I am not writing

Aside from my passion for literature and arts, I enjoy spending time out and about in nature. It does wonders for my overall well-being, and it's where I harvest most of my inspiration from. I also love photography and to travel all over the world, absorbing as many experiences as I possibly can to fill scrapbooks full of cherished memories.
